Call it what it is: Gestapo tactics

Absolutely furious.
That’s the only way to describe how I feel after reading this story: ICE detains man, 30, inside Ontario surgery center in heated confrontation, according to KTLA.
ICE agents stormed into a California surgery center, a place of healing, not harm, and dragged a man out in front of patients and staff.
Why?
Because that’s the kind of unchecked power this agency wields.
They didn’t identify themselves.
They didn’t have a warrant from a judge.
They didn’t even bother with basic decency.
This is not how a democracy behaves.
This is not how a lawful nation upholds its laws.
This is how authoritarian regimes operate.
These are the same damn tactics used by the Gestapo in Nazi Germany, by the NKVD in Stalin’s Soviet Union, by the Tonton Macoute under Papa Doc’s brutal rule in Haiti.
Secret police.
Disguised agents.
Unmarked vehicles.
No warrants.
No due process.
No dignity.
In a just, democratic society, law enforcement must be held to the same legal standards as every other citizen.
That means identifying themselves, carrying warrants signed by a legitimate judge, and presenting clear legal cause.
Not some vague “detainer” that isn’t even a real court order.
We don’t let armed men grab people off the street, or from a goddamn surgery center, just because they feel like it.
That’s not law.
That’s lawlessness in uniform.
If we allow this, we are no better than the regimes we once fought wars to defeat.
These raids are not just about immigrants. They’re a test of whether we actually believe in freedom, justice, and due process—or whether we’ll let our government act like thugs in plainclothes, dragging people away while the rest of us look down and pretend it’s not happening.
This should not be normal.
This should never be normal.
Unfortunately, without due process, we live in a police state.
